Pure Capital announces the Pure Protection Fund
LONDON/WELLINGTON, June 2009(TBC) – Pure Capital, a New Zealand based quant manager today announces the launch of The Pure Protection Fund. The fund aims to provide protection to portfolios during equity bear markets, whilst maintaining or improving returns in bull market environments. The Pure Protection Fund will start trading on 20 August, 2009 and will use only liquid, listed derivatives on recognized exchanges – primarily equity index and commodity derivative products. Pure Capital has been running a similar strategy via a managed accounts structure since 2007, generating cash returns of 79% in 2008, and ...
Guernsey-domiciled investment manager Argyll Investment Services Limited presents the Pure Capital Protected Cell Company (Pure Capital PCC Limited), a means by which investors can now access the investment advisory services of Pure Capital Limited (Pure Capital).
Pure Capital is the first of a new breed of wholesale investment advisors dedicated to providing "targeted non-correlation" i.e investment payoffs that are negatively correlated against specific asset class, geographic or portfolio benchmarks in specific market environments.
Of course, in addition to the "targeted non-correlation", a basic pre-requisite is that Pure Capital aims to provide positive returns through the investment cycle.
Some of the benefits of "targeted non-correlation" are:
- Reducing the negative impact of bear markets on equity portfolios.
- Reducing portfolio volatility overall.
- Enhancing returns in periods where underlying market exposures are benign for a portfolio.
- Introducing further diversification into portfolios.
- Gaining access to large moves (up and down) in exotic investment exposures such as carbon, food or energy.
A range of investment products will be available through different cells of the Pure Capital PCC. The first cell to be launched is the Pure Protection Fund (formally known as the Short Delta Fund), the first fund implementation of Pure Capital's Global Equity Protection Program, a quantitatively driven investment solution to the problem of equity bear markets affecting portfolio performance.
